The DETAIL Award is one of the most important international awards in architecture. We launched it in 2005 with the aim of raising public awareness of the importance of building culture and the work of architects.
The prize honors completed building projects with exemplary character - worldwide and regardless of typology. Success in the competition is not determined by the size and amount of the construction budget. Much more important are a convincing overall concept, a consistently implemented sustainability strategy, successful details and a coherent choice of materials. Renowned jurors have supported the DETAIL Award from the very beginning. These included Dominique Perrault, Odile Decq and Louisa Hutton. The list of past award winners ranges from Toyo Ito to ALA Architects, Snøhetta and David Chipperfield Architects.
The DETAIL Award is taking place for the eleventh time this year. In addition to the main prize, the jury will once again present the DETAIL Award for students and universities for a completed construction project or a realized prototype. USM will award a special prize for circular building. The winning project in the DETAIL Readers' Award will be chosen by DETAIL readers in an online vote from a shortlist selected by the jury.
This year's DETAIL Award is supported by Additive Tectonics, USM and Tonality, among others.
