Abalo Alonso Arquitectos
Elizabeth Abalo and Gonzalo Alonso founded their practice in Santiago de Compostela after graduating from the University of Navarre in 1997. Among their first works was the refurbishment and expansion of a courthouse in Caldas de Reis, completed in 2001. Numerous other buildings followed, with a local focus on the region of Galicia. The architects’ portfolio ranges from urban planning to interior design, often for projects in the public sector. In recent years, timber construction has become increasingly important in their award-winning work. The two architects have taught at various institutions, including visiting professorships at the University of Navarra’s Faculty of Architecture since 2021.
