On a former bus parking lot near Vienna’s Prater fairgrounds, Nonconform have built a new hotel. Indeed, Zoku and Superbude unite two trendy hotel concepts under a single roof.

Prater Glacis
The Prater Glacis has been created over 9500 m² on Vienna’s Perspektivstrasse, in direct proximity to the trade-fair grounds and Wurstelprater amusement park. The ensemble, which stands on an old bus parking lot, comprises three structures: an office building belonging to the Vienna University of Economics and Business by Franz und Sue, a hotel by the Zechner und Zechner architecture studio and, at the centre of it all, the new hotel by Nonconform.
Raised on stilts
The U-shaped building rests on stilts above the old parking lot and opens towards the Prater to the south. Along the road, six storeys with guest rooms rise above a glass plinth which also serves as a public passageway to the Prater. The hotel building is shared by two operators with equally trendy hospitality concepts: the west wing is occupied by the hip hostel Superbude; in the east wing Zoku, a hotel concept from Amsterdam, offers its guests a positive work-life balance in contemporary home-office lofts with hotel service.

Zoku Lofts
For urban nomads from around the world, the interior designers from Concrete have developed 131 lofts with a like-at-home atmosphere. Unlike other hotels, the focus here is not a king-size bed but rather a large table, a kitchenette and a cosy sofa. The sleeping area is hidden in an alcove behind a partition wall made of wooden slats; the stairway leading to it can be slid into the built-in cupboard. On the top floor of the building, two meeting rooms and small work nooks are available to guests.

Superbude
Young hipsters and families will find casual accommodations at Superbude. Atelier Karasinski and Archiguards have conceived 178 different themed spaces for the Vienna branch of the eponymous chain from Hamburg. For instance, the Game City Bude offers sleeping areas for five guests along with a gaming console with five controllers. Guests in the Kinobude enjoy a selection of Austrian films and a projector, while the Glamping den offers the feel of luxury camping for those who overnight in a caravan-style bed. An upper level for the public
Both operators’ restaurants are located on the top floor of the hotel. Furthermore, both are open to diners not staying at the hotel. In the Superbude wing, Neni offers Israeli cuisine, while Living Kitchen at Zokus serves “creatively interpreted Mediterranean fare”. Each eatery has its own rooftop terrace, from which the roller coaster and carousels of the loud, colourful Prater can be watched from a safe distance.
