Waechter + Waechter Architekten
“The question of how we want to live, reside, work, and learn in the future – and what kind of world we want to leave behind, for which we bear responsibility – guides us at various scales within our projects,” say Sibylle and Felix Waechter, who founded their practice in Darmstadt in 1998 after completing their studies in Stuttgart and Lyon. Felix also holds a postgraduate degree from Harvard and is currently a professor and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at TU Darmstadt. Their notable projects include the renovation and extension of the Hessen State Parliament in Wiesbaden, the refurbishment and expansion of the Theatre and Opera House in Heidelberg, and the new Historical Archive building in Cologne. The firm has gained recognition for its expertise in timber construction, as seen in projects such as the Academy for International Cooperation in Bonn, the Assessment Centre in Neuwied, and the Innovation Factory 2.0 in Heilbronn.
