Translucent High-Performance Silica-Aerogel Insulation for Membrane Structures
Translucent forms of thermal insulation seem to have taken a backseat in the last few years; nonetheless they present interesting possibilities for the combination of glare-free daylight in conjunction with thermal insulation. Recently, new production processes for Aerogels have been developed which are simultaneously more economical and more effective. Just how easy the new Aerogel-filled EFTE panels are to use, can be seen at their inaugural application in a pavilion for the Georgia Technical University at the solar decathlon in Washington.
