Floating Music Hub in Cap Verde by NLÉ
The video of the opening celebration shows the floating music hub in use. The cultural and creative platform is located in the bay of Mindelo and combines a multipurpose performance hall, a recording studio and artists lounge, as well as a food & beverage bar. Three floating units form a communal cluster around an isolated triangular floating plaza. The open space can be used for small to medium sized gatherings. The structure is a simple way to build on water, using lightweight, prefabricated, modular timber elements that can easily be assembled and disassembled.
Kunlé Adeyemi is a Nigerian architect who studied at the University of Lagos and the Princeton University School of Architecture in New Jersey. For ten years, he worked for OMA in Amsterdam, where he founded 2010 NLÉ, an office for architecture, design and urbanism. He lectures and teaches at many universities internationally.
