Peris + Toral
Marta Peris studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in Barcelona, where she graduated cum laude in 2016. Her dissertation on “Japanese homes in the films of Yasujiro Ozu” addresses the extreme flexibility of the structures – they also served as a model for social housing in Cornellà. Marta Peris and José Toral combine spatial innovation with sustainable building materials in their projects, focusing mainly on social housing. They seek to challenge predefined standards and deliver innovative solutions. Since 2002, Peris has been a lecturer in Housing and Urban Design at UPC. José Toral also studied there and has taught in its Public Spaces and Urban Design department since 2016. The two launched their joint practice in 2005. With their team of six, Peris + Toral won several national and international awards for social housing in Cornellà
