We show you three extraordinary buildings whose construction and appearance are shaped by the material polycarbonate. The Braunstein Taphouse in Køge, a residential building in Esslingen and the sculptural structure of the start-up centre in Archena impressively showcase the material.

Impermanent Beer Palace: Braunstein Taphouse in Køge

The Corona pandemic has made us all painfully aware that culinary establishments are not necessarily forever. However, in Køge near Copenhagen, it was the location at risk of flooding that prompted the Adept architects to choose an easily deconstructable design for the Braunstein Taphouse.

Commodious Mini: Haus SO in Esslingen

Coming with just 82 square metres of floor space and an exterior that does not seek to fit in with the area’s Swabian family home idyll, Finckh Architects’ Haus SO for a retired couple in Esslingen am Neckar creates a counterpoint to the constant living space increase in German housing developments.

A Polycarbonate Incubator: Start-up Centre in Archena

Amaa, a young Madrileño architecture studio, have designed an office landscape on the edge of town, housed in a sculptural structure of polycarbonate: this is the new startup incubator in Archena, a small city in Murcia.
