Molloy College by BRB Architects

The transformation from a community college to a 24 hour learning community has been made possible with the opening of the Molly College Rockville Centre. The new building by BRB Architects has an art gallery, 550 seat theatre and multi-functional atrium space all fully connected – not just with the internet – but with the surrounding architectural spaces and the people that use them.
The new building is set on the west side of the existing quadrangle helping to frame it and to reinforce the sense of public square. The interior public spaces to the building are seen as an extension to this square. The use of red brick and oak provide a strong connection to other buildings on the campus, whilst the use of exposed steel and polished concrete reserve its own unique position in the campus architecture.
