Luca Selva
Luca Selva Architekten, based in Basel near the Swiss border, has explored a wide range of themes since 1990 – urban transformation strategies, preservation of existing buildings, numerous residential projects, and public structures like schools and university buildings. At the core of this internationally acclaimed firm, comprising around 30 employees, are forward-thinking design strategies that yield surprising new solutions across their work. Sensually detailed surfaces and materials, such as brick or exposed concrete, are meticulously selected to suit the given context. For a courtyard development on Thiersteinerallee in Basel, Luca Selva wrapped a timber supporting structure in a copper sheet envelope. Current undertakings include the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Basel, a sports centre featuring a triple gymnasium in Langnau am Albis, the Weiherweg complex in Allschwil, and the Tonwerke complex in Kandern.
