Lighting Installation in New Paris Museum
The new Pinault Collection in the Bourse de Commerce in Paris represents a special dialogue between historical and contemporary architecture, design and culture. Tadao Ando Architect & Associates together with NeM/ Niney & Marca Architectes and Pierre-Antoine Gatier have for François Pinault supplemented the existing spatial framework from the 18th- and 19th-century with exhibition spaces for his contemporary-art collection. The designer duo Ronan and Edward Bouroullec contributed to the interior design with custom-made lighting objects by Flos Bespoke among others. In the entrance hall, for example, five parallel light cylinders made of glass and aluminium serve to accentuate the ceiling. Vertical light tubes adorn the stairwells in the flanking access areas. The length of the particularly impressive installation in Staircase C is 17 m in total. The glass for the LED-module luminous artworks manufactured near Venice is surrounded by a fine aluminium structure. Modern design dominates the ambience in the new museum restaurant. Here the Studio Bouroullec contributed vertical lighting elements and specially-designed table lamps developed together with designers from Flos Bespoke.
