Kaden+Lager

The architecture office of Kaden+Lager and their 25-member team in Berlin are devoted to wood. Since 2015, Tom Kaden and Markus Lager, a trained carpenter, have been designing, planning and building various residential building projects including rental apartments for housing cooperatives in Berlin, Hamburg and Heilbronn. They have repeatedly demonstrated how timber is suitable for use in the city, particularly in housing construction. The focus of their work is on the development of solutions with and for users. As pioneers of multi-storey timber hybrid buildings in inner-city areas, they were awarded the German Timber Construction Prize in 2015. With their flagship product, the Skaio, the duo built Germany’s highest wooden building to date.
