Martin Hirner and Dr. Martin Riehl established their architecture practice in 1990, which later expanded in 2016 with the addition of Melanie Wenderlein, Robert Härtl, and Matthias Marschner as partners. Today, the Munich-based office has over 50 employees. Sustainability has been a core focus from the outset, with a pioneering commitment to timber construction. Their expertise has flourished through the realization of numerous timber buildings over the years. The firm also specializes in the renovation and conversion of large historic building complexes. Hirner & Riehl has received several awards for projects such as the Bellevue di Monaco residential and cultural centre for refugees and the St. Wunibald House, highlighting their proficiency in timber-straw construction. Their diverse portfolio includes numerous timber educational structures designed for various age groups, including the Franziskus primary school in Munich.
