Images: 3XN In general the hotel industry has been somewhat slow to respond to the environmental agenda, but in some quarters that is changing. This hotel and conference centre on the island of Borholm, Denmark is designed by the architects 3XN, and makes a fully committed attempt to meet the highest possible environmental standards. Designed to meet Cradle to Cradle © objectives, the hotel aims to give guests a taste of what it would be like to live more closely with the cycles of nature. The architecture becomes an interface or mediator between nature and the building users helping to raise awareness of the issues, and helping to change behaviour. The objective is to reach a point where nature is no longer degraded by human activity and in this specific case the act of creating architecture.
