Two-storey Extension

The Zurich architectural office Ernst Niklaus Fausch Partner has converted a listed factory building in Kemptthal, Switzerland, into a modern, LEED-certified office building, adding two floors to the brick building using prefabricated wooden-frame elements from Blumer Lehmann. These proved to be time- and cost-saving compared to the originally-planned material and construction variants. The precisely-fitting wooden frame elements were delivered to the construction site and placed between the erected concrete columns. Filler elements were manufactured for the supports so that they too are located in the insulation level.
