Double Floors for Circular Building

© Lindner

By their own account, Lindner have been offering climate-neutral floor panels since 2011. A few years after that, the company introduced the possibility to lease and return. The next step in the direction of circular building is now to follow: the processing of used floor panels whereby the panels are disassembled and returned to the factory. After extensive product testing, Lindner processes the panels for resale. While the Loop double floor has only its upper side renewed, Loop prime and Loop aurum undergo five-sided machining that includes the processing of the circumferential sides. Subsequently, Loop prime is given additional protection in the form of edge banding, though in the case of Loop aurum, Lindner have omitted this step for environmental reasons.

Along with their new sister product known as Nortec Aurum, the floor panel was distinguished with C2C Certified Gold certification at the beginning of 2022. According to Lindner, it is the world’s first double floor to earn this distinction. The processed panels feature the same physical properties as new product when it comes to statics, fire protection and soundproofing. However, the manufacturer claims that the reprocessed panels can boast a carbon-balance improvement of around 75 %. NG
