DETAIL Prize 2016 is announced
The DETAIL Prize is awarded to future-oriented, innovative and pioneering projects that have outstanding architectural and technical qualities. In addition to the DETAIL Prize, two special prizes will also be awarded - the DETAIL inside prize and the DETAIL structure prize. These two new categories are aimed at the core target group of architects as well as at interior-designers, designers, civil engineers and structural engineers. Between 1 September and 14 October 2016, the readers of the architectural trade magazine will also vote online for their favourite project for the DETAIL Readers' Prize.
In July, the editors will nominate the most compelling projects from all the entries. These will be publicly presented to an interested specialist audience on 10 November 2016 at the TU Berlin by the respective office in the form of short presentations. In a second step, a jury of renowned experts will, behind closed doors, choose from among the nominations the winners of the DETAIL Prize 2016. The prize winners will then be announced and honoured on 11 November 2016 at a festive gala in Berlin. A DETAIL Prize 2016 exhibition during BAU 2017, the world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems, in Munich will round off the presentation of the projects.
The DETAIL Prize 2016 highlights opportunities, challenges and potentials for the entire construction industry and in particular for architecture. The aim of the award is to highlight architecture in public debate, strengthen the role of architects, and promote networking among architects, industrialists, developers and politicians. The prize is awarded every two years by DETAIL in cooperation with BAU 2017 as the premium partner, Gartner as the main sponsor, conceptual partners from the political arena, and industry sponsors. In 2014 the competition attracted a record 343 entries from 41 nations.
The opening date for the online submission of entries at www.detail.de and www.detail-online.com for the DETAIL Prize 2016 is 17 May. The closing date is 30 June 2016.
