Roof Extension in London

The new top floor is the most striking part of the renovation of an English consumer rights protection centre in London. It is characterised by a complex roof shape with an anthra-zinc surface from Vmzinc. The renovation of the building was carried out by KPF Architects. The aim with the new top floor was to create as much usable space as possible and to create the impression of airy height. At the same time, the impact on the historical lines of sight of the surrounding area was to be kept as low as possible. The roof is divided into staggered segments that rise slightly towards the centre of the building. With an anthracite-coloured zinc covering and sharp-edged details, the silhouette blends into the design language of the existing roofs. A double standing seam covering casts shadow patterns on the angled zinc surfaces.

Anthra-Zinc Plus was used for the profiles of the ventilated roof, which is a variant that can be processed with traditional handicraft techniques. All Zinc-Plus surfaces are protected from white rust by a back coating with corrosion inhibitors.
