Changing Our Footprint

The exhibition will focus on decarbonization arising from a more responsible building culture. Henning Larsen, an internationally recognized studio for architecture, landscape design and urban planning will present convincing, forward-looking designs and projects that will inspire sustainable development for people and the environment. Insight into current topics such as transformation, design for disassembly and 3D printing will provide food for thought about reducing our ecological footprint while safeguarding good architecture.

Share

The exhibition will be divided into two areas: the first, called Share, will address carbon consumption. The demonstration of familiar building materials and their ranking from good to less good will inform visitors from both within and outside the building industry.

Explore

The second part of the exhibition, Explore, will be devoted to bio-based materials such as wood, straw, eelgrass, mycelia, reused bricks, low-carbon concrete and clay. The exploration of these resource-saving materials will take place by means of selected projects that fulfil the standards of sustainable building from a greener choice of materials all the way to reusable building components. Original sketches by the architects will provide clear insight. New discoveries will stimulate deeper consideration and further exploration.

Connect

Transparent display formats and the use of new technologies will encourage visitors to exchange ideas. Events, lectures and discussions surrounding current challenges as well as already-found solutions will inspire openness towards new design approaches and contemporary materials.

Connect At Home

It is not only the exhibition that will be characterized by dialogue. The architects have also compiled their knowledge and thoughts in a “plant a seed” book that will be available free of charge on the website. In order to encourage the use of resource-saving materials, the Henning Larsen studio will also share online the Unboxing Carbon Catalogue, which will present a comprehensible compilation of these materials along with environmental product declarations.
