Camping in luxury: SJCC Glamping Resort by Atelier Chang

Glamping stands for "glamourous camping". A new minimalistic luxury resort of this type in Suncheon, South Korea, some 300 kilometres south of Seoul, features 16 brightly-coloured living units grouped around a communal building containing a reception area and restaurant. Each of the living units offers two bedrooms and a kitchen on about 50 square metres of living space. Thanks to their alignment, the units are well-screened from their neighbours, plus each one provides breath-taking views of Suncheon Bay for all guests.
Atelier Chang designed the living units as light steel frame structures and covered them in a tent-like fabric, making them well suited to the changeable climate of the region. Three types of living units differing in terms of shape and colour were designed altogether.
The communal building forms the focal point of the resort and comes with an elegant geometrical arrangement of white steel louvres to shield the interior from direct sunlight. Individual terraces around and between the glamping units weave their way between the surrounding trees, increasing the feeling of being immersed in nature.
