Colourful Artist Studios

A new urban quarter is currently being built on the site of Munich’s former Luitpold Barracks. There, local architect Michael Beck has created a temporary artists’ centre using containers. The centre consists of four individual buildings with a total of 98 Fagsi Energy containers. The buildings house 20 office and studio units, nine workshops and an artists’ café and are two storeys high, except for the three-storey head building. The street-facing facades in profiled sheet metal are in different colours, and inwardly in a uniform mint green. Protruding, recessed and cantilevered elements create outdoor spaces with different amenity qualities. Lemon-yellow deep-sea containers were also integrated into the module rows. These are used for storage.
