Anette Fest is a trained drafter, studied architecture in Constance, and worked in various firms before opening her practice in 1999. She works as a design consultant, trained as a coach, and is in the Baufrauen women architects network. Since 2005 she has run a joint office with Christian Bodensteiner, who studied in Munich and has been self-employed since 1998 after working in different architectural firms. From 2013–15, he taught and researched at the Chair of Building Materials Science at TU Munich. He is part of “Klimawende planen”, a climate-focused architecture network, and lectures on sustainable building and equitable land policy. Both architects are BDA members and served on competition juries.

The Sonnenberg quarter in Chemnitz is a largely preserved Wilhelminian quarter with a lot of charm. Number 41 - the "Casa Rossa", named after the red bricks of the facade - stood empty for over 30 years and was left to decay.
