Lighting that adapts

Studio Geckeler Michels sets new standards for modular lighting solutions with the new Map ceiling and wall lighting system. A dynamic design with advanced lighting technology was created in collaboration with Lodes. Lodes will be presenting the system at the Salone del Mobile and Euroluce in Milan in April.

The system is based on a conductive fabric tape that acts as a connecting element between the individual light modules. This tape enables almost unlimited adjustment of the arrangement of the lighting elements, making it possible to realise different lighting compositions on ceilings and walls. Map requires only a single power source to operate all the light modules, providing an efficient solution that does not require additional power connections to ceilings or walls.

The start module of the system is equipped with a Tunable White LED that allows the colour temperature to be adjusted. The fabric strip within the module serves as a power conductor and supplies all other light modules. With a maximum length of eight metres and a height of just five centimetres, the tape provides an efficient power supply without requiring additional connections to the wall or ceiling.

Map is available in two versions: Triac, which comprises five modules, and Dali, which can integrate up to seven additional light modules. The system offers the option of extending the strip by connecting non-conductive strips, allowing additional light points to be integrated into the system.

The system also includes a wall-mounted version of the start module, which is suitable for installation on ceilings with low heights or without ceiling connections. This module is not illuminated and enables connection to existing ceiling light sources.
