A twisted logic: Agora Garden, Taipei, Taiwan by Vincent Callebaut.

Inspired by shape of DNA's double helix, this 20 storey tower designed by the Belgian architect Vincent Callebaut, is set to cause a stir in down town Taipei when it is completed in 2016. Its presence, like an urban mountain sprouting verdure, will be a landmark for the city.

The architect regards the building as two towers intertwined, but provides no hint of how it structurally works other than it is built around a central core. That is not important for this preview, but we will take a closer look when it is completed.

The building is predominantly residential but has a rooftop club with pool and fitness centre. Its most striking feature however, is its twisted form and its external balconies. The balconies, central to the ecological credentials of the building, will be planted with flowers vegetable gardens and fruit trees.
