Office S&M
Catrina Stewart and Hugh McEwen met while studying at Bartlett School of Architecture. After working together on several smaller projects, they founded Office S&M in 2013. Today the firm consists of five architects, who work on projects ranging from residential buildings to shops and public squares. Their portfolio includes both new builds and refurbishments for public and private clients alike. Be it a house, street, or neighbourhood, Office S&M respond to the context of each project and honour the existing building fabric. They often wield colours and patterns like building materials to create a sense of drama, a cheerful atmosphere, or unexpected spaces. Treating design as a collaborative process, they value the close involvement of clients and users. In 2020, Office S&M received the Young Architect of the Year Award.
