Temporary School Building
For the Hausburg School in Berlin, Kleusberg in just three-and-a-half months constructed a three-storey school building for 300 elementary-school students in timber-frame construction as a temporary alternative location. The 2100-m² new building with a natural larch facade consists of 75 modules, and was handed over in the spring of 2021. In addition to twelve classrooms and a cafeteria, the school building also houses group and administrative rooms. There are fixed wooden seating areas in the hallways and alcoves to provide quiet study spaces for students. Due to the inner-city location, the building permit is only valid for a limited standing period of eight years. Subsequently, the modular building will have to be moved to another location. To keep the impact on the site as low as possible, Kleusberg chose a point foundation.
