Recycled Concrete Pavilion
In Pirmasens, not far from the university campus, a single-storey pavilion measuring just under 5 m × 7 m and made of semi-precast elements of recycled concrete – floor slabs and double-wall elements – with an in-situ concrete extension has been in place since the beginning of 2021. The structure is one of the pilot projects in the three-year research project SeRaMCo (Secondary Raw Materials for Concrete Precast Products). RC 25/30 concrete with R cement, 10 % crushed sand and 35 % recycled aggregate as well as C25/30 in-situ concrete with aggregate category type 1 according to the DAfStb guideline were used. The load-bearing precast elements were supplied by Beton-Betz, a company of the Syspro Group. The pavilion is to be used as a meeting place for young and old as well as a stage for music and artists.
