A cinematic experience for EuropaCity: UNStudio plans Centre Culturel Dédié Au 7è Art

Last year, publication of BIG's master plan competition for EuropaCity in the greater Paris area was followed by a competition for eight key buildings in the future cultural and leisure district, which is to contain a concert hall, several hotels, a modern circus building and an exhibition hall.  The competition for the Centre Culturel Dédié Au 7è Art cultural centre and cinema complex was won by UNStudio.

Part of the idea for the EuropaCity is to provide a combination of sports, cultural and entertainment offerings that address both national and international visitors to the city. Private investments of 3.1 billion euros are envisaged for realisation of the ambitious project.

The eye-catching shape of the building designed by UNStudio is attuned to the other unusual forms that determine the artificial landscape in the leisure district.  The building's façade material is inspired by large-scale landscape sculptures, whereby three intertwined volumes rise up from the ground, and greened, publicly accessible rooftops evoke the surrounding landscape.
