DETAIL English 2/2016
In view of its regenerable nature and in the context of climate protection, wood is assuming ever greater significance as a building material even in urban situations and multistorey construction. New materials and jointing techniques, as well as intelligent composite forms, have enlarged its design scope. Nor is the combination of different kinds of wood taboo any more, as one sees in a boathouse in Chile and the European School in Frankfurt, where, in addition to softwood, beech was used.
