Interiors and Lighting
A certain aura, haptic surfaces and the ergonomic qualities of a building all go beyond the basic parameters of construction. They are the outcome of convincing concepts for internal space and lighting. In their church and community centre in Cologne, Sauerbruch Hutton have succeeded in creating a “Gesamtkunstwerk”. Ippolito Fleitz, in contrast, have transformed a 1980s’ office development into a bright, “non-territorial” office landscape; while in Erich Mendelsohn’s former Schocken department store in Chemnitz, Atelier Brückner – in close collaboration with Auer Weber and Knerer and Lang – have staged an informative world of experiences.
